JoAnne Andre-Flanagan has been selected as the next superintendent of Riverton schools.

The Fremont County School District 25 Board of Trustees plans to approve her contract officially April 28, according to a statement Tuesday.

She is slated to start the job July 1.

Andre-Flanagan already works at FCSD 25 as assistant superintendent, heading curriculum, instruction, and assessment for the past seven years, the press release said.

She also was Riverton High School principal for 13 years and assistant principal for one year.

She was born and raised in Riverton, graduating from RHS and moving to North Dakota to teach before returning to Fremont County to work as a special education teacher at St. Stephen's Indian School.

She then spent about 10 years in Green River, teaching sixth-grade science and social studies and coaching volleyball before becoming an elementary school principal, then assistant high school principal.

Current FCSD 25 superintendent Terry Snyder is retiring this summer after nine years on the job, citing "health issues."
