Bouncing back from only loss, Rams throttle Ten Sleep

Oct 6, 2013 By Randy Tucker, Sports Writer

Lopsided scores are common with the limited enrollments of schools playing 6-man football. Dubois had the run of the field Saturday afternoon in Washakie County in a 66-13 blowout of the Ten Sleep Pioneers.

The win comes a week after the Rams' only loss in the last two seasons, a nail-biter against Meeteetse.

The long trek from Dubois on wet, slushy roads was repaid by a perfect afternoon high in the mountains on the Pioneers' home field.

"It was a great afternoon," Dubois head coach David Trembly said. "Ten Sleep did a tremendous job clearing the field, and it was a nice day."

Dubois left little doubt who the dominant team was in the opening 10 minutes, pouring on 38 points. Nathan Moore opened the scoring on a 1-yard run, followed by a pair of Dubois interception returns for scores.

The first was by Sterling Baker from 25 yards out, and the second was by Kurt Leseberg from the 20-yard line. Baker added a 45-yard run and another Moore dive, this one from the 2, capped the outburst. Rowan Hawk converted five of the six extra point kicks in the period.

Dubois added 14 more points in the second. Baker set up the first score on a 65-yard punt return to the Ten Sleep 10-yard line. Walker Carrico scored from there on a pass from Leseberg, and Baker ended a 52-point half on a 60-yard run.

Ten Sleep got on the board with a long pass, and the running-clock mercy rule was in effect for the entire second half.

Baker opened the third period taking the ball at the one on the initial kickoff and racing 79 yards for another touchdown.

The Rams scored a final time in the third when Hawk hit freshman Brock Baker on a 23-yard pass.

Ten Sleep added a late score on the ground for the final 66-13 margin.

Dubois entertains Fremont County rival St. Stephen's this Friday at 2 p.m.
