It's Homecoming Week at RHSOct 6, 2013 From staff reports
The theme for Riverton High School's 2013 Homecoming is "A Homecoming Too Awesome For Words!"
Daily festivities begin Monday and conclude with Friday night's football game and the Saturday night Homecoming dance.
The theme encompasses everything legendary or epic.
On Monday night the RHS Student Council is hosting movie night at dusk on the front lawn of RHS.
On Tuesday, students will vote for their Homecoming royalty. Royalty will be crowned at coronation on Wednesday, which begins at 9:30 a.m. in Wolverine Gym. Parents and family are invited to the event.
Thursday's "color run" hosted by the RHS Dance Team takes place at 5 p.m., with registration at 4:30 p.m. A community pep rally and chili feed will follow at 6 p.m. at Wolverine Field. School District 25 administrators and school board will serve the dinner.
Class competitions and games will take place afterward, culminating with the annual "Burning of the R" at dusk.
On Friday, a school pep assembly will take place followed by the Homecoming parade.
The parade will start at the intersection of South 7th East and Main Street downtown and proceed west on Main Street to North 8th West, north to Jackson Elementary School, then east again to Tonkin Stadium.
The parade route was changed last year to help alleviate congestion on Main Street for elementary student spectators.
The Friday night football game is set to kick off at 6:30 p.m. with halftime festivities to include performances by the RHS dance team, cheer squad, and marching band, along with royalty parade.
The RHS Homecoming dance is held at the James H. Moore Career Center on Saturday night.
