Officials lift Hardluck Fire area closure
Sep 12, 2013 - From staff reports
Following the successful completion of work to clear hazardous fire-killed trees along trails and no additional activity on the fire over the past week, the Shoshone National Forest has lifted the area closure associated with the Hardluck Fire.
While the closure has been lifted, the U.S. Forest Service would like to remind visitors to remain vigilant in the area of the fire.
"Even though we have not seen activity or much heat on this fire for the past three weeks, the fire is not out," said Mark Giacoletto, Shoshone National Forest fire management officer. "We ask that anyone recreating or hunting in the area be extra mindful of their surroundings."
Additional hazards in the area include, but are not limited to, increased potential for falling or down trees, trail damage and increased potential for mudslides, especially with precipitation as is forecasted for this weekend. Avoid camping near dead or burned trees and use extra caution when traveling in burned areas.
