Aug 5, 2013 - StaffFinishing touches being applied to a major Central Wyoming College building is a familiar sight this summer, and it was in 1976 as well.
In the bicentennial year, the building was the CWC Activities Center (now known as the Morfeld Activities Center).
The multipurpose building housed the new gymnasium, which featured a poured , rubberized surface called ProTurf; a 200-seat theater, studios for the radio station KCWC, the college bookstore, office space, student lounge and short-order restaurant upstairs, and and a workout room in the basement. The new building carried a price tag of $1.3 million.
Accompanying it were four new tennis courts outside, and new landscaping features to tie the new facility in with the rest of the campus.
A community welcoming festival was planned for early August, featuring tours and entertainment to celebrate completion of the three-year construction project.
