Officials: Loop Road to stay closed until June 7

May 26, 2013 - From staff reports

Louis Lake Road will remain closed because of snow and road conditions through Memorial Day weekend.

The road, also known as the Loop Road, is located in the Washakie Ranger District of the Shoshone National Forest.

To ensure public safety, the Shoshone National Forest will keep the entire length of Louis Lake Road closed until further snow melt-off allows hazardous tree removal work to be completed. Pending any further weather complications, Louis Lake Road is set to open Friday, June 7.

For more information about the closure, contact the Washakie Ranger District office at 332-5460.

As the nation's first national forest, the Shoshone National Forest has 2.4 million acres of diverse terrain and a mission to sustain the health, diversity and productivity of the forest to meet the needs of present and future generations.
