County has several at top of high school rodeo tally

Fremont County rodeo athletes are near the top of the standings in several events heading into the spring season.

Teal Soll of Pavillion is leading the pole bending competition, taking 46 points from the fall season. Wheatland's Chloe Ashenhurst is 15 points behind at 31 points. In goat tying, Wind River High School's Josee Vogel sits third after scoring 35 points.

Lysite's Sierra Spratt is tied for second in barrel racing with Kylee Cahoy from Sheridan. They have 34 points apiece.

Coley Nicholls of Riverton is out in front in the team roping competition.

The fall season consisted of rodeos in Wheatland, Riverton and Jackson.

The spring season starts Saturday in Laramie.

After Laramie, rodeo athletes will attend the Sweetwater County event April 20-21 in Rock Springs.

The Sublette County rodeo April 26-28 wraps up the first month of the spring season.

Five more rodeos are planned for May. The state finals are June 5-9 in Douglas.

The top four athletes make the National High School Finals Rodeo July 14-20 in Rock Springs.
