Betty J. (Wall) Higgley died Monday, March 25, 2013, at Westward Heights Care Center in Lander. She was 86 years old.

Viewing will be Monday, April 1, at Myers Funeral Home in Huntington, Ind. Private family services will be Tuesday, April 2. She will be buried with her husband at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Wabash, Ind.

Betty Jane Wall was born July 17, 1926, in Huntington, Ind., the daughter of Chris and Pearl (Tryon) Wall. She lived on the family farm with her parents and five sisters. She graduated from Rock Creek school.

She married Robert Higgley on Dec. 24, 1960. They lived on a farm in Lagro, Ind., where Betty was a farm wife and they raised three children. She also had various factory jobs over the years. Her husband died in August 1976.

In 1982 she moved to Wyoming and worked as a senior companion/caregiver, as well as a foster grandparent at Arapahoe School.

Mrs. Higgley also lived in Colorado for a short while.

Her family said she enjoyed visiting with her family, shopping, reading, watching her favorite TV shows, going to the casino, watching the birds and deer, and looking at her flowers out her window at the nursing home. Her family said she had a meaningful, purposeful life, was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her daughters, Christina Martin and her husband Jerry of Wabash, Ind., Melody Tromburg and her husband Gene of Custer, S.D., and Roberta (Bobbi) Gibb and her husband Brad of Riverton; grandchildren Alexis Martin of Kokomo, Ind., and Jacob Jarrett and his wife Bethany; and great-grandson Flynn of Rapid City, S.D.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sisters.
