Mar 9, 2012 - By Carolyn B. Tyler, Staff WriterThe town of Shoshoni got a fun little shout-out on national TV on Tuesday morning of this week.
On "Live with Kelly" on KTWO/ABC during the show's "Daily Dial Trivia," they called Erma Luxmoore in Sheridan.
Guest co-host for the morning Nick Lachey asked if she ever went to Shoshoni. Proving the adage that Wyomingites living along I-25 think all roads in the state go north and south, she said she'd never been there.
He gave a nice little, if outdated, boost to Fremont County when he told her that his aunt lived in Shoshoni and, "they have a wonderful malt shop right off the highway there," referring to the Yellowstone Drug Store, which has relocated from the spot which gave it fame.
Mrs. Luxmoore was a winner anyway, winning a $12,000 trip to a resort in Park City, Utah, which happens to be near Heber City, where their daughter lives.
The increasing variety of birds visiting the juniper trees in my front yard speaks of the coming spring.
Robins have joined the ring-necked doves, sparrows, chickadees and flickers.
And a nearby friend had a goshawk in her front yard last week.
It was 51 years ago today that late husband-Bob and I left Nebraska in a blizzard, arriving here the next day to find farmers in the field.
It's the theoretical start of spring for me.
