Alfred 'Oscar' Redman Jr.

Alfred "Oscar" Redman Jr. died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City. He was 37 years old.

Rosary and prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at the Elk Redman Complex. The wake will follow at the Alfred Redman residence, 445 Ethete Road. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at the Elk Redman Complex with Catholic clergy officiating. Burial will follow in the Sage-Redman Cemetery in Ethete.

Alfred Redman Jr. was born Sept. 22, 1975, in Lander, the son of Alfred and Mary Alice (Doney) Redman.

He married Alfreda Redman on Nov. 24, 2008.

He attended Mill Creek School and Wyoming Indian High School. During his younger years he loved to ride horses, his mini-bike and build model planes. He graduated from Central Wyoming College with his Associate of Science degree. He attended the University of Wyoming and majored in special education.

While in high school he was a member of the National Honor Society and played football and basketball. He traveled to Australia to participate in the Down Under Bowl playing football. He was also a member of the FFA.

He earned a Native American Vocational and Technical Education Program certificate for carpentry. He was a certified substitute teacher at Wyoming Indian Schools and Fort Washakie School. While attending school in Laramie, he worked at the Blue Beacon. He had various jobs around the area: Little Wind River Casino, transportation and basketball referee.

His family said he loved his cats and dogs, and they followed him wherever he went.

He is survived by his wife, Alfreda; parents; children Robert and Garnett Addison; brothers Travis Brockie and his wife Rose and John Redman; sisters Josie Redman and her husband Darnell and Tessa Redman and her husband Larry; nephews Jesse, Jason and his wife Lilah, Travis II, Demitri (Midnight), Jacob, Junior, Tom-Elk, Edison, Wilson, Darrius and LJ; nieces Kristina, Tianna, Josie, JayceMarie and Tommie; grandchildren Tyras, Carmalynn, Carmello, Gabrielle, Miami, Echo, Kaydan, Layla, Bayleigh, Jaelle, Austin, Kellen, Tressa, Travis III, Kasen, Weptas and Demitri Jr.; uncles Hubert Redman, John Doney and Jim; aunts Lucy Willow, Alvena Oldman, Cheryl Barnhart and her husband Ron, Frances Bighorn, Florence Redman and Anita Hungary.

He was preceded in death by his baby sister, Mary Frances Redman; brothers Kevin Hungary, James and Billy Goat Oldman; grandson Henry Standing Elk III; grandparents Elk and Josephine Redman, Tom and Rose Doney, Mary Hungary, Martin and Philomena Underwood; uncles Vincent Redman, Jimmy Oldman, Big Rock Shakespeare and Ed Underwood.
