Feb 20, 2013 - StaffPhillip D. Wempen died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, in Oklahoma City, after complications from open heart surgery. He was 65 years old.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Davis Funeral Home in Riverton. Ron Clapp will officiate. Viewing is 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Davis Funeral Home.
Phillip Dee Wempen was born Nov. 7, 1947, in Riverton, the son of Art and LaVetta (Moore) Wempen. He grew up and lived in the Riverton area most of his life. In January 1966 he married Mary Ann Wagner. They had three children. They were married for 20 years and divorced in 1986.
He married again in 1993 to Janet Barkell. They lived most of their life together in New Castle. They then moved to Oklahoma in 2006. In 2008 they parted ways.
He is survived by a dear friend, Rhonda Rhodes, of Vanoss, Okla.; brother LeRoy Wempen and his wife Donna of Stratford, Okla.; daughters Robin Brummett and her husband Wes of Casper and Tolena Murnion and her husband Ray of Lovell; son Troy Wempen of Casper; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Art and LaVetta Wempen, and a brother, Don Wempen.
