Field set at seven for college board; meeting Feb. 20

Feb 12, 2013 - From staff reports

Seven people will vie this month for the open Subdistrict 2 seat on the Central Wyoming College Board of Trustees.

The group now includes Jack Hildner and John W. Mercer Jr., as well as previously reported candidates Gloria Philp, Nicole Schoening, Tim Payne, Phil Christopherson and Robert Heuermann.

Friday was the last day to apply for the position, from which Judy Pedersen resigned last month.

The seven candidates are required to attend the board's next meeting, which will begin at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at CWC's Intertribal Education and Community Center. The applicants will be interviewed separately and in public; the board plans to select Pedersen's replacement that night. The successful candidate is expected to take the oath of office and be seated at the board Feb. 20 as well.

Pedersen's replacement will serve on the board through November 2014. At that point, voters will elect someone to fill the remainder of Pedersen's four-year term. She submitted her resignation verbally during the board's Jan. 16 meeting, two months after being re-elected. The board officially accepted her resignation Jan. 23, after which it began advertising the vacancy through local media outlets.
