Feb 5, 2013 - StaffPatrick M. Martin, formerly of Riverton, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, in Centennial, Colo. He was 67 years old.
Cremation as taken place, and a memorial service will be this summer.
Patrick Monroe Martin was born April 17, 1945, in Riverton, the son of Alfred P. and Euphemia "Effie" Herrera Martin.
He went to grade school at the old Jefferson School and graduated from Riverton High School in 1963. He married Carol, his high school sweetheart and friend, Aug. 8, 1963. They had two children, Patrick Joseph and Michele Nichol.
He started to work for the Knight Theaters while in high school, cleaning the snack bar and running the projectors for the drive-in and Acme and Gem Theaters.
Mr. Martin served in the Navy from 1963 to 1967 with a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was discharged with distinguished honors.
After his discharge from the Navy, his electrical training paid off for him. He started his new career with the California and Pacific Telephone Co. He continued to advance with promotions to Mountain Bell, AT&T and then moved on to Lucent Technologies. He retired from Lucent Technologies after 33 years. Never one to stand still, he worked for Expanets, Mohawk Education Cabling and Business Solutions, Inc. He finally decided to retire, again, in 2012.
His family said his hobbies were fishing, all kinds of trains, reading and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Carol; daughter Michele Rich; son-in-law Randy Johnson; grandchildren Cierra and Bridger Martin; mother-in-law Margaret McKim; brother-in-law Ted Herring and his wife Angie; brothers Raymond Swasso and his wife Karen, Tony Swasso and his wife Claudetta and George Martin; sister Effie Jean Olivarez; sister-in-law Bette Martin; family members Donna Mowrey and her husband Gene, Gary Martin and his wife Rosemary, Rick Martin, Rose Marie Saunders and her husband Les, Carmen and Jake Gonzole, Chris and Marie Duran, Romona and Eusebio Soto Marianna, Rick Sandoval, Nick and Pauline Garcia, Frank and Mary Ellen Garcia, Rudy and Karen Garcia, and Anthony and Debbie Garcia; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Patrick Joseph Martin; brothers Roy Martin, Richard Martin, Vernon Martin, Alfred Martin, Karlin and Fredrick Swasso; and Jennie Martinez Swasso.
