Jan 20, 2013 - StaffGeorge E. Hill died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Central Wyoming Hospice following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 62 years old.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, at Bustard's Funeral home in Casper.
George Edward Hill was born March 23, 1950, in Riverton. As a child, he spent much of his time on his stepfather's Mitten Ranch on the Sweetwater.
He developed a great love for that area and for the ranching lifestyle.
He graduated from Riverton High School in 1968 and shortly after married Sylvia Isaac. They had three children and later divorced.
As a young man, Mr. Hill had a variety of jobs including farming, ranching and working in the oil field as a derrick hand. Most recently he worked as an over-the-road truck driver, which turned out to be his passion. His family said he loved the open road.
He is survived by his daughters, Renae Thayer and Michelle Cantine; son Jeremy Hill; grandsons Donovan and Patrik, Dee Hixon, Tess and Jon Chavez and all of their children and grandchildren; and several extended family members and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Poe Hill; mother Violet May Iturrian; sister Grace Lorraine Stokes; and brother Howard John Hill; stepfather Benny Iturrian; and dear friend Susan Guthrie.
The family requests that donations be made to Central Wyoming Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
