Ethel Elane (Speyer) Hancock , formally of Lander, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at West Park Hospital in Cody. She was 83 years old.

Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Hudson's Funeral Home in Lander. Graveside services follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Ethel Elane Speyer was born March 6, 1929, in Rawlins, the daughter of James and Marjorie Speyer.

She spent most of her childhood in Baroil with her two sisters and brother.

She attended beauty school in Casper.

She married Dale Hancock, a rancher in the Lander area, on Oct. 26, 1945. They lived on the Hancock Family Ranch on Willow Creek Road south of Lander. They raised four boys: Dale Jr. "Gus," James "J.J.," Eugene "Frank" "Tibo" and Charles "C.C."

Mrs. Hancock worked as a beautician for 62 years in Lander. In 2005, the couple sold the family ranch on Willow Creek and moved to Basin.

Her family said she enjoyed her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

Her hobbies included outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing and working on the ranch.

She was very talented when it came to sewing, knitting and crocheting.

Her family said she loved making beautiful gifts for family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Dale; sons Dale Jr. and wife Shari, J.J. and wife Charlette, Frank and wife Renee, and Charles; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and sisters Martha and Darlene.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Marjorie Speyer; brother Charles; and grandson Jesse.
