Heather A. Philp died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at her home in Riverton. She was 40 years old.
Cremation has taken place, and services were Thursday, Nov. 29, at Davis Funeral Home. Echo Klaproth officiated. Her ashes will be spread over her favorite camping spot in 2013.
Heather Anne Philp was born Dec. 26, 1971, in Riverton.
She was raised in the Riverton area by her grandparents, Lyle and Annas Babcock.
She attended Riverton schools through her high school years. In 1991, she married David Watson, and they had two sons, Ashten and Layne.
She married Shawn Philp in 2000, and they had one daughter, Halli, 8.
Her family said she was very active in her children's lives. Her husband and sons raced motocross, and she was always in attendance. She and her daughter shared a love of animals, and they often rode horses together. She loved the outdoors, camping, fishing and hunting with her family. They said she made a difference to many people, and her door was open to anyone who needed a place to stay. Her home overflowed, and she gave many teenagers a chance others didn't. She will be deeply missed by more than her immediate family.
She is survived by her husband, Shawn; sons Ashten and Layne; daughter Halli; sisters Sheila Crowson of Riverton, Samantha Ableman of Riverton and Sara Highsmith of Cheyenne; parents Joel and Kathy Highsmith of Shoshoni; brothers Mike and Jimmy VanVleet; father David VanVleet; grandson Liam; Lyla Babcock and Joe Babcock; numerous nieces and nephews; and her large extended family.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lyle and Annas Babcock.
All donations are being placed in a college fund for Mrs. Philp's daughter, Halli.
