Apologies for damage done to the CWC volleyball programNov 16, 2012 - Leticia Guimaraes, Riverton Editor: I am writing this letter to apologize for my mistake and to make sure no one else with the Central Wyoming College volleyball team is blamed for something I did. Even though everything already happened and we can't change anything, I still want to make things right. I don't want Coach Stauffenberg or anyone else to be blamed for something she did not know, so I don't think this is fair. When I was recruited to play volleyball in the U.S. by a sports agency in Brazil, Fernanda (the owner) was dealing with all the paperwork between me and the college. I didn't know the complete rules and she made it seem very simple to play in another country. Fernanda always knew I had played Superliga (a professional league in Brazil), and her main recommendation/concern was for me not to tell it to anyone else. I also got the information that most teams did this in the U.S., and it wasn't going to be a big deal. I had no idea it would be bad for the college or even the whole team. I thought it could be bad only for me. I regret my decision to come here and I am really sorry for what happened to CWC. However I don't regret playing here in Riverton, living here, experiencing a totally different country, city and great people. It was an honor for me to wear a CWC shirt. I am truly sorry for the consequences of my wrong decision. I hope from the bottom of my heart that this bad time passes soon. And I hope that CWC volleyball team keeps being respected and loved by the CWC community. |
