Feb 26, 2012 - StaffFood producers are invited to participate in the 2012 Local Food Fair scheduled for March 10 at Central Wyoming College.
CWC is sponsoring the fair to create a local food network that matches customers to local producers.
The fair is from 9 a.m. to noon at the Intertribal Education and Community Center.
The format is informal and each producer has a table to display their products and distribute information to the public about their farm, their products and how consumers can buy from them, said organizer Sherry Shelley, CWC Riverton Outreach coordinator.
"Even very small producers are encouraged to participate," she said. "If you are raising a few lambs or pigs for market, if your apple trees produce more fruit than your family needs, if you're planning to have eggs to sell, or spare rhubarb or green beans, this is an opportunity to promote those items."
Shelley said this is an opportunity for farms considering expansion into the local market to test the waters and to spread the word.
