Sep 26, 2012 - Chad Nicholson, Three Rivers, Calif.Editor:
I want to extend my congratulations to the Big Wind Round Up PRCA Rodeo and Riverton's own Powder River Rodeo Co. for being nominated for National Awards in the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association. The Big Wind Round Up, held during the Fremont County Fair, has been nominated in the top five small outdoor PRCA rodeos, which is the largest category available. The rodeo committee, volunteers, and fair staff have done a wonderful job growing their PRCA Rodeo to one of the best in the nation.
Their stock contractor, Powder River Rodeo Co., owned by Hank and Lori Franzen of Riverton, has also been nominated in the top five again for PRCA Stock Contractor of the Year. Known for their exciting productions and award winning Born to Buck Program, the Franzens continue their tradition of excellence as industry leaders. This year, their multi-award winning bareback horse, Khadafy Skoal, was only the fifth bareback bronc to ever be inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame.
I am proud to be the voice of the Big Wind Round Up for 12 years now and the voice for Powder River Rodeo for more than 14 years. The results will be announced at the PRCA National Convention in Las Vegas in December. Good luck.
