Group homes get ongoing grant help

Fremont County Group Homes has announced that its two Department of Health and Human Services grants have been renewed for the 2013 fiscal year.

One of the grants enables the program to provide runaway and homeless youth services in Dubois, Pavillion and Shoshoni. The other DHHS grant, which the agency has had for more than 30 years, provides the same services in Riverton and Lander.

The program provides runaway and homeless youth prevention services individually and within the local schools, provides shelter through foster homes, if needed, and arranges for individual and family counseling to help reunite families or prevent out-of-home placement.

The group homes' services are for non-system youth, considered those not currently receiving services from any other agency in the county, and their families. The program deals with youth 11 to 17 years of age who have run away or are homeless, who are contemplating running away, or are at high risk for runaway or becoming homeless.
