Sep 4, 2012 - StaffSarah Whiteplume died Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, in the hospital at Bismark, N.D. She was 39 years old.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at Blue Sky Hall at Ethete. Evening service and wake will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at the Bill and Regina Whiteplume residence, No. 1507 Blue Sky Highway, Johnstown Valley. Interment will be in the Mission Cemetery at Ethete.
Sarah Whiteplume was born May 28, 1974, in Lander, the daughter of Mary Joshua and the late Burt Whiteplume Jr.
She attended Wyoming Indian Schools and was a homemaker.
Her family said she enjoyed cooking, beading, going to the casino, baking (her specialty was fry bread) and being around her family and friends.
She is survived by daughters Laura Friday, Shayna Moss and Justice Whiteplume; sons Harold Friday and Linden Whiteplume; brothers Burt Whiteplume III and wife Sarah Pauline and Richard Whiteplume and wife Margie; one grandchild; grandparents Victoria Joshua and Lonnie Wise Spirit; aunts Regina and Roberta Whiteplume, Rachel Enos, Lucie Mesteth and Rita and Lina Joshua; uncles William and Francis Whiteplume, Philip Mesteth Sr. and Michael Joshua; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Burt Whiteplume Jr.; sons Herman and Derrick Moss; grandparents Ada and Burt Whiteplume Sr., Francis Joshua, Joe Waterman Sr. and Ina Blackfeet; aunts Bernadette Whiteplume, Andrea Joshua and Bernadette Joshua; uncles Richard and Peter Whiteplume, John Enos Sr. and Gerald Joshua.
