Frank and Sharon Palmer, formerly of Fremont County, died Aug. 7, 2012, in their home in Casper.
Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 13, at the Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery Chapel.
Frank Palmer was born Sept. 15, 1933, in Cloquet, Minn. Sharon Haynes was born March 10, 1941, in Cheyenne. They were married Sept. 30, 1961, in California. They were Casper residents of 36 years.
Mr. Palmer was well known in the Rocky Mountain area as an experienced heavy equipment mechanic in the construction and mining fields. He was in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956. He was an avid collector of guns, and he started buying old cars for restoration when he retired. His family said he and his best friend liked to go road tripping in search of old cars.
Mrs. Palmer worked off and on through the years. She liked to weave baskets.
They both liked to travel and visit family.
They are survived by sons Don of Casper and Frank of San Diego; granddaughters Dara and Akiko of Casper; Mr. Palmer's brother David of Osburn, Idaho; Mr. Palmer's sisters Jean Foutz and Evelyn Schamp, both of Lander; Mrs. Palmer's sister Jean Michelena and her husband Mitch of Buffalo; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Palmer was preceded in death by his parents, John Palmer and Katheryn Lyons; sisters Shirley Palmer and Betty Snelson; and brothers Joseph and John Palmer. Mrs. Palmer was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert Haynes and Nona Probasco; and brother Larry Haynes.
