Aug 12, 2012 - StaffJames Michael Patik, 65, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, in Fort Collins, Colo.

James Michael Patik was born Jan. 10, 1947, in Lander.
He was raised in the Lander Valley and graduated in 1965 from St. Stephens High School. Following graduation he enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy.
He was honorably discharged after serving four years.
Mr. Patik moved to Colorado and worked for Denver Burgular Alarm, AIA Security Systems, and then moved to Southern California to work in property management of several apartment complexes and for Taylor Made Golf Club Co.
His family said his love of the mountains and his family brought him back to Fort Collins, Colo.
He is survived by his mother, Jean Patik of Lander; a son, Myles; grandson, Alexander of Highland Park, Colo.; three sisters, Sharon Newton of Guernsey, Colo., Patricia Milton of Fort Collins, Colo., and Janelle Hahn of Lander; and his loving companion Rachael of Fort Collins, Colo.
He was proceeded in death by his father, Stephen Patik; sister Karen Hutchins; and nephew Ryan Hahn.
