Eclipse changes first day of school

CHEYENNE (AP) -- A Wyoming superintendent has postponed his district's first day of school because he says he "grossly underestimated" how significant the solar eclipse is going to be.

Laramie County School District 2's first day of classes was scheduled for the same day as the eclipse, August 21, but was changed to August 22.

Bison killed after hit by car

POWELL (AP) -- A bull bison that had wandered out of Yellowstone National Park was killed after suffering severe head and leg injuries when it was struck by a vehicle just east of the park.

Wyoming Game and Fish warden Travis Crane says the bison was walking in circles on the highway after the collision Sunday evening near Wapiti and couldn't be moved.He shot and killed the injured bull because the Wyoming Highway Patrol said it was a public safety hazard.

UW hired provost for enrollment

LARAMIE (AP) -- The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees has appointed its first associate vice provost for enrollment management.

Kyle Moore will assume his new duties Aug. 23. Moore's responsibilities will include overseeing enrollment management functions, such as admissions, the registrar and scholarships and financial aid.
