Aug 9, 2012 - StaffPatricia Sitting Eagle Behan, 81, of Thermopolis, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, in Worland at the Washakie Medical Center.
A rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at Davis Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at St Stephens Catholic Mission. Father John Gaffney will officiate.
Patricia Sitting Eagle was born Dec. 14, 1930, in St. Stephens to Stephen Sitting Eagle and Winifred Emily Goes In Lodge.
She went to St. Stephens Mission School and lived in Araphaoe until she moved to Worland, where she lived for 18 years. She then moved to Thermopolis and lived there for the past 20 years.
On April 4, 1973, she married Reuben Behan in Thermopolis.
Her family said she was a homemaker, enjoyed sewing and beading and found comfort and enjoyment in spiritual readings and the Bible.
She is survived by her husband, Reuben Behan of Thermopolis; her sons, Harvey Brown of Montana, Melvin Brown of Casper, Paul Valdez of Casper and John Surrell Jr. of Lander; her daughters, Reubena (Emiliano) Aguilar of Greybull and Emily Surrell of Fort Washakie; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren,and great-great-grandchildren; her nieces, Victoria M. Eagle, Linda Revere, Susan Duran, Leanna Sitting Eagle, Dorothy Sitting Eagle, Sandra Oldman and Carline Headly; her nephews, George Sitting Eagle, Linus "Moose" Sitting Eagle, Gerald "Duke" Sitting Eagle, Silas Sitting Eagle, Reno Headly and Leonard Headly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Anthony Sitting Eagle, Linus Sitting Eagle and James Sitting Eagle; sisters Edith Headley and Maxine Dewey; sons Farrin Surrell, Patrick Valdez Jr. and Kenneth Valdez; and daughter Kathleen Valdez.
Services are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home.
