Jun 9, 2017 - From staff reportsSandra Lucero died Saturday, June 3, 2017.She was 54 years old.
She was born Oct. 1, 1962, in Pine Ridge, South Dakota, the daughter of the late Benjamin Piper Sr. and Pauline Ground Spider.
She attended schools at Riverton, St. Stephens, Flandreau and Haskell. She was a housekeeper. She loved her dogs. She joked and visited with friends and family. She enjoyed music, movies and Joyce Meyers Ministries. She loved her grandchildren and adored her only daughter Tyrene Loya.
"She just loved life and being here in our lives," loved ones recalled. "She was a great wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend 'dawg.'"
She is survived by spouse, Michael Dean Lucero; daughter, Tyrene Annette Loya; sisters Carol Ann Friday, Natalie Rose SunRhodes, Rose Potter and Johnette Piper; brothers Benjamin John Piper Jr., Mitchell Piper, Benjamin Oldman and Otto Oldman; grandchildren Ozshnee Behan, Jasmine and Imanie Prieto, Chloe, Carlos and Mariah Benivamonde and Cheryl Ann Piper; nieces Jana Behan, Marissa Amost, Courtney and Katrina Piper, Autumn Medicine Cloud, Tashala SunRhodes, Mary Blackburn and Stephanie Piper; nephews Cameron and Cory Piper, Kenneth Shakespeare Jr., Glen SunRhodes, Michael Timbana, Brent and Brandon Gould and Homer James Blackburn; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; and the families of Amos, Timbana, WallowingBull, Piper, Antelope, Eagle, Fighting Bear, Little Thunder, Oldman, Addison, Blackburn, Wolfname and Sitting Eagle.
She was preceded in death by brother, Fredrick Steven Piper; grandchild, Jesse Rain Behan; and niece, Kristen Rose SunRhodes.
A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, June 9, at Great Plains Hall with a wake to follow at the same location.Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 10, at St. Stephens Catholic Church with Father Andrew Jinsetter officiating. Interment willbe in the St. Stephens Catholic Cemetery.
