Aug 5, 2012 - StaffRiverton High School band students are expected to attend the annual marching band camp beginning this week at Wolverine Field adjacent to RHS.
The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug 7, through Thursday, Aug. 10.
RHSR00;director of bands Aric Hageman and the new Riverton Middle School director, Zack Tolman, conduct the camp, which is intended to introduce new band students to the fundamental of marching band and to prepare for the coming marching band season.
"Everyone who is registered for band, or who wants to register for band, should be here," Hageman said.
The RHS Marching Wolverines have been one of the state's top marching programs for the past half dozen years, including earning the equivalent of the Class 4-A state championship in 2010 at the state marching band festival in Casper.
Hageman said the band will perform a jazz-based show with a big-band feel. The band is scheduled to perform at the University of Wyoming marching band festival at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie as well as the state competition at the Casper Events Center in October.
The group also will play at all Riverton High School home football games this fall and will perform the festival show at halftime of some games.
