Lander opened the Class 3-A state soccer tournament in Sheridan on Thursday with a comprehensive 8-0 victory against Douglas.
Daniel Lobera and Jed Welsh each scored a pair of goals for the Tigers, who also got single strikes from Tony Schaff, Jake Calhoun, Ian Whiting and Jacob Lytle.
Lander led the Bearcats, 3-0 after only nine minutes of play and never looked back, sending a total of 27 shots goalward, with 19 on them on frame.
Abe Lowham and Dan Rollino each made a save apiece in goal to keep a clean sheet.
Lander was next scheduled to face Cody in the state semifinals on Friday at 4 p.m.
