Cydney Bradley scored two goals, including the game-winner, in a 3-1 victory against Torrington.
The Riverton Lady Wolverine girls soccer team survived a challenge from the Torrington Lady Trailblazers and earned a 3-2 play-in victory on Saturday in Worland to lock up a berth to the Class 3-A soccer tournament, which starts on Thursday in Sheridan.
Riverton will play the Cody Fillies in the tournament's first match on Thursday at 9 a.m.
Sophomore Cydney Bradley scored two goals, including the game-winner that broke a 2-2 tie midway through the second half.
"We controlled the match after that and put a lot more at them including two from Cydney that just sailed over the top of the goal," said Riverton head coach Tanya Santee. "But we have to play quicker and that is what we'll work on this week. In this match, I would say we played OK."
Alexxis Motisi also scored for the Lady Wolverines. Brittany Dwyer, Errolyn Adams and Carlee Flanagan all registered assists in the match.
In other first-round state tournament matches this coming Thursday, Powell will battle Lander at 9 a.m. and Rawlins plays Buffalo, while Worland challenges Star Valley in the afternoon matches at 2 p.m.
Cody and Star Valley own the top two slots in statewide media polling entering the state tournament, according to WyoPreps.com.
