Apr 19, 2017 - By Andrea Novotny, Staff WriterA 29-year-old Riverton man was killed in a car crash Friday on Highway 26, about eight miles west of Riverton.
Matthew Morin was the driver and sole occupant of a white 2000 Dodge Dakota traveling east on Highway 26 toward Riverton at about 7 p.m. Friday.
He was transported from the scene by ambulance and died that night.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Wyoming Highway Patrol, but initial reports show that Morin made "an aggressive move to the left," then, as the vehicle was traveling toward the ditch to the north side of the road, steered hard to the right.
The vehicle slid, driver side first, leaving the roadway to the north, rolling multiple times. Morin, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected.
Fremont County Coroner Mark Stratmoen said that due to the circumstances leading up to the death, and the obvious cause of death as trauma, there is no need for an autopsy. Toxicology reports are pending.
