Ruth (Keller, Fuson) Mason

Beloved wife, mother and grandmother Ruth (Keller, Fuson) Mason passed away March 11, 2017. She was 83 years old.She was surrounded by family in Grand Junction, Colorado, where she has lived for the past three years.

Ruth Mary Keller was born Sept. 11, 1933, in Casper and spent her elementary years attending St. Anthony's Catholic School and Natrona County High School.

She met and married an amazing man, John Elliott Fuson, and had four children.John Jr.died in infancy, and John Sr. passed after open heart surgery at the young age of 32.

She then attended college and began working as an accounting supervisor for the United States Geological Survey. When the department relocated to Denver she decided to take an early retirement.

Blessed by a second cherished love, she married Donald Dale Mason on Dec. 8, 1967, in Casper. They would have celebrated their 50th anniversary this year.

The blended family of nine children enjoyed holiday meals, camping, fishing, hunting, horseback riding, snowmobiling and riding ATVs in the area around Casper and Dubois.

The couple relocated to Dubois where she enjoyed wildflowers, bird watching, country and western dancing, fishing, photography and entertaining family with visits to Togwotee Pass,Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park.

In Dubois, she helped start her husband's new career as an independent trucker. The couple traveled to all 50 states either by 18-wheeler or with their pickup and camp trailer.

She was a happy, caring individual, developing lifelong friends in the Dubois area.

She was very active in her volunteer work at Our Lady of Fatima parish in Casper and Our Lady of the Woods in Dubois. She also volunteered for the VFW, the Dubois museum and as treasurer for the ATV and Snowmobile clubs.

Moving to Grand Junction in 2014, to be close to daughter Shelly Williams and family, she continued to enjoy long car rides through the scenic peach orchards and Colorado National Monument.

Surviving are: spouse, Donald Dale Mason Sr., of Lampasas, Texas; children Mike David (Jo) Fuson of Phoenix, Shelly P. Mason of Casper, Sherry Mason (Timothy) Graham of Basin, Teresa Fuson, Owens (George) Fuller of Brigham City, Utah, Donald (Debbie) Mason Jr. of Briggs, Texas, Cydney Mason (Charlie) Goodrich of Pinedale, Shelly Fuson Brown (David) Williams of Grand Junction, Colorado, David (Karen) Mason of Houston, Texas, and Frank Mason of San Rafael, California; 24 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and three great- great-grandchildren; and manynephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, John Elliot Fuson; son, John Elliot Fuson Jr.; brother, Nick Keller; sister, Elizabeth (Keller) Selby; and nephew, James Selby Jr.

A viewing will be 4-5:30 p.m. Friday, March 17, 2017, followed by a rosary service at Our Lady of the Woods Catholic Church, 4 S. Riverton Rd., Dubois. Mass and a Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017. Interment will be in the Dubois Cemetery.
