All that happened in Cheyenne on school funding was putting off the inevitable. The Legislature is going to have to find some money somewhere, because the schools can't be cut back enough to save the whole $350 million that has dried up.
I read that the community colleges are raising tuition a little bit. The answer of "raise more money" seemed pretty obvious to them for the moment. The elementary and high schools can't do that on their own accord, and the Legislature won't do it yet.
I have grandchildren in two school districts. I think a tax increase, temporarily, is going to have to happen. I also think that if it got put to a public vote on the state ballot, a tax increase for schools would pass. I'm pretty sure I would vote for it. It would be "us helping us."
