Mar 1, 2017 - From staff reportsE. Maxine Rogers formerly of Dubois died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, in Portland, Oregon. She was 94 years old.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. March 2 at Davis Funeral Home in Riverton. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Mountain View Cemetery in Riverton.
Ellen Maxine Brown was born Dec. 7, 1923, in Wilmington, California, to Lawrence Elroy and Ellen Emily (Markley) Brown. She graduated from high school in Grants Pass, Oregon.
She came to Dubois from Oregon with two small children in 1947. She married John Hawk in 1949, and he died in 1963. She then married Frank Goss in 1964, and he died in 1967. Lastly, she married Lloyd Rogers Sr. in 1973, and he died in 2011.
While living in Dubois, she gave piano lessons and kept books for her husband's sawmill "Dubois Timber Co."
After he passed she went to Denver for secretarial school and worked for Shoshone National Forest and the Dubois National Bank. She later kept books for her husband in Elk Mountain, Saratoga and Lake Havasu, Arizona.
Her joys in life were her family, caring for others, reading, rock hunting and camping.
She is preceded in death by her son Darrell Ray Spinas; parents, Lawrence and Ellen Brown, sisters LeNora Richards and Bertha Brown; and brothers Lee and Carrol Brown.
She is survived by her brothers Edwin (Betty) and Earl (Loraine) Brown; daughter, Annabelle (Bob) Hawk Christensen; grandchildren Bryan (Casey) Christensen and Aaron Christensen; and great-grandchildren Alex, Jacob, Trinity and Liam.
