Feb 16, 2017 - By Craig Blumenshine, Staff WriterA home game against Cody on Friday will be followed by a road contest at Powell on Saturday.
With just two weeks left in the Class 3-A basketball regular season, the Riverton Wolverines girls and boys basketball teams will be back in action this weekend.
This Friday, both the girls and boys teams host the Fillies and Broncs from Cody High School in Wolverine Gym. Game times are set for 6 p.m. for the girls and 7:30 p.m. for the boys.
Earlier this year on the road, the Lady Wolverines (0-20) fell to Cody (8-10, 2-1 Class 3-A Northwest) 36-28, while the top-ranked Wolverine boys (20-0), playing one of their least productive games of the season according to head coach Stuart Mullins, but pulled away in the second half to beat Cody (10-7, 2-1 Class 3-A Northwest) 58-42.
On Saturday, both the Riverton girls and boys team will make the long trip to Powell for evening games. The girls' game is planned to tip off at 5:30 p.m. and the boys will follow at 7 p.m.
In January at home, Riverton's boys blasted the Panthers (3-13, 0-3 Class 3-A Northwest) 82-37, while the girls fell to Powell (8-8, 3-0 Class 3-A Northwest), 44-30.
Following this weekend's games, Riverton will host Lander on Feb. 23 for its final regular season games before hosting the Class 3-A West regional tournament the following week.
