Jul 20, 2012 - By Emily Etheredge, Staff WriterThe Riverton Branch Library is gearing up for a "Ladies Night Out" featuring the artistic talent of Fremont County women.
Teri Wiblemo, library assistant in charge of adult programming and marketing, said the idea for the event developed when library staff discussed the need to have women come together and display their talents through artistic avenues.
"Fremont County has a lot of amazing female talent," Wiblemo said. "We hope to get volunteers that want to show their art form. There is a lot of untapped talent, including many closeted female artists that it will be good to showcase."
Wiblemo said the staff wanted to showcase physical and performance art with an art show and evening of performances.
"There is always a lack of the arts, especially places and ways to showcase the arts in smaller, more rural areas," Wiblemo said.
Wiblemo credits Central Wyoming College's theater department with making the arts easier to access in Riverton.
The event is at 7 p.m. July 31 and will be free and open to all ages. The theme is "between the covers" to go with the overall summer reading program theme, which is "night."
Anyone interested in showcasing their art can call the Riverton Branch Library at 856-3556. Participants must be at least 18 years old.
