Frederick Duncan McDonald, 84, a 22-year resident of Lander, died Saturday, June 30, 2012, after a strong battle against Parkinson's disease.

Private services will be at a later date in Watertown, N.Y.

Mr. McDonald was born in Watertown, N.Y. At 17, he enlisted in the Navy for the duration of World War II. After discharge, he attended and graduated from St. Lawrence University with a bachelor's degree.

He began his career with IBM and later started McDonald Micradata in New York City. He retired from Raymond James Brokerage, where he worked as a financial consultant.

Mr. McDonald married Arlene Partridge on Nov. 22, 1951, in Syracuse, N.Y.

His family said he enjoyed traveling, flying, scuba diving, playing bridge, fishing and hunting.

Mr. McDonald is survived by his wife, Arlene Partridge; Stephanie Peterson of Lander and Lynn Meier of Palmetto, Fla.; son Fredrick McDonald Jr. and daughter-in-law Elizabeth McKibben of Wayzata, Minn.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two younger sisters, Mary Lenehan of Syracuse, N.Y., and Julie Percy of Charleston, S.C.; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews in New York and Florida.
