Jul 12, 2012 Staff

Lois H. Hughes, 83, died July 10, 2012, with family and friends by her side at Westward Heights Care Center in Lander.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 13, at Mt. View Cemetery.

Lois Helen Robinson was born Sept. 1, 1928, in Cuyoga Falls, Ohio, to Carlos Robinson and Nora (Flaugh) Robinson.

She married her best friend, Glenn L. Hughes, on Nov. 8, 1948, in Billings, Mont. They had three children. He preceded her in death on Sept. 2, 1984.

After raising her children, Lois worked for Kathryn Gray for roughly six years. Following her husband's passing, she ran a rural postal route in the Pavillion area for many years until moving to Riverton.

Her family said her greatest pleasure was working for the Foster Grandparents Program for 20 years, and she loved all the children she helped, especially the ones at Ashgrove Elementary School. She enjoyed doing all kinds of puzzles, sewing and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Tommy Hughes and his wife Jackie; her daughter, Carol Dickinson, all of Riverton, and her daughter, Shirley Siek and her husband Dennis of Douglas; her brother, Chester Robinson and his wife Margaret of Wheatbridge, Colo.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one brother, Kenneth Robinson; son-in-law, Daryl Dickinson and several aunts and uncles.

Memorials may be made to the Foster Grandparent Program, 319 S. Sixth St., Thermopolis, WY 82443.
