Jun 29, 2012 - StaffCHEYENNE -- Two college-bound students headed to the University of Wyoming this fall will now have some extra money to put toward their tuition, books and other expenses. Meridian Trust Federal Credit Union has awarded two separate $1,000 scholarships to Tanner Simpson, of Lander, and Payton Blackwell, of Cheyenne.
Both created videos and submitted them to Meridian Trust as part of the credit union's 2012-13 Scholarship Program.
Tanner Simpson is a graduate of Lander Valley High School. He has won several State track events and will be majoring in either chemistry or biology at UW this fall. He has been a member of Meridian Trust since he was 2 years old.
Payton Blackwell is a Cheyenne Central High School graduate, team captain of the Central Dance Team, and is the secretary for the Cheyenne High Plains Future Farmers of America. She plans to major in nursing at UW this fall.
