Catherine C. Loneman, 79, of the Wind River Indian Reservation, died Friday, June 22, 2012, at the Lander Regional Hospital.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, at Blue Sky Hall at Ethete with Catholic clergy officiating. Interment is in the Friday Cemetery.

A rosary and wake are at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, at the family residence at No. 489 Ethete Road.

Catherine Carol Groesbeck was born Feb. 21, 1933, in Fort Washakie. She attended elementary school at Fort Washakie and graduated from Fremont County Vocational High School in Lander. She attended college at Haskell Indian School and also in Billings, Mont.

Her first marriage was to Charlie Sweeny and she later married Rutherford Loneman in 1956. Together they had four children -- Bruce, Ron, Gerald and Ava Denise.

She also made her home in Oklahoma and Billings, Mont.

Mrs. Loneman worked as the Arapaho tribal secretary, clerk of the Bureau of Indian Affairs office in Fort Washakie and worked on the Arapaho Ranch. She was a grandparent at the Head Start. Her last employment was at the Ethete Senior Center.

Her family said she enjoyed visiting with the people who eat at the senior center, enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her hobbies included reading, doing puzzles, watching Western movies and the Texas Rangers on TV, playing cards, going to Wendover and gambling at the local casinos.

Mrs. Loneman is survived by sons, Gerald and Ron Loneman; daughter Ava Denise Snell; grandchildren Nathan, Martha, Damien, Donavon, Kevin and Benito Loneman; Antonio Valdez, Sydney Willow, Danille Brown,and Juan Triejo; 23 great-grandchildren; brothers Felix and Erma Groesbeck, Bruce Groesbeck, Alvin Armajo; nephews Arleigh and Karlene Armajo, Brian and Mary Groesbeck, George and Bruce Groesbeck III, Alvin Armajo Jr.; nieces Ardena Spoonhunter, Reva and Meldon Hill, Gladys Chingman, Wanda and Blaze Norris, Wilda, Willis, Evan and Marvin Magnan, Cara Moon, Janie and Jim Brown, Eleanor and Alvin Brown, Helen and Mike Brown, Karen Smith, Cheryl Groesbeck, Sharon and Al Addison, Remelda Panzatanga, Kinzie and Charle Lopez, Susan and Ed Groesbeck, Patty and Ron Wade, Linda Groesbeck, Carolyn Makil, Mary Cowboy and Martha Ann Shakespeare; 67 extended family grandchildren, the families of Loneman, Armajo, Groesbeck, Hutchison, Hamilton and Wallowingbull, and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son Bruce Loneman; brothers Hiram Armajo, George and Arlen Groesbeck; sisters Vivian Chingman and Wilman Goggles; grandparents Frank Armajo and Nettie Tyler, and Returns to War and Belinda Groesbeck.

Services are provided by Wind Dancer Funeral Home of Fort Washakie.
