Assault, police chase under investigation

Jun 13, 2012 Staff

An alleged assault on East Monroe Avenue in May remains under investigation.

Douglas Lemley, 28, of Riverton, was arrested for a Fremont County warrant for contempt of court for non-payment of child support, a Natrona County warrant for felony strangulation of a household member, eluding police, and possession of a controlled substance (marijuana).

Lee said Lemley was arrested at about 5 p.m. Monday, May 21, after eluding deputies during a vehicle pursuit.

"Lemley was the subject of an earlier call that afternoon, when it was alleged he had assaulted a female in the 1500 block of East Monroe Avenue," Lee said. "Lemley was also wanted out of both Fremont and Natrona counties on two separate warrants."

Lee said Lemley was later located driving a vehicle near West Main Street and College View Drive, but he tried to eldue officers by car. He was stopped when he reached the top of Airport Hill, and he was taken into custody without incident.

A passenger was released at the scene.
