Jun 10, 2012 - The Associated Press

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) -- Wyoming has extended the contract of men's basketball coach Larry Shyatt by one year.

Shyatt's contract now runs through the 2016-17 season.

Shyatt signed his original contract with the Cowboys on March 31, 2011. His initial contract was for five years with a base salary of $190,000 per year and included incentives for up to $645,000 per year.

The financial terms of the contract remain the same.

Court improvement

In Shyatt's first year, Wyoming won 11 more games than it did the year before he arrived. The Cowboys finished 21-12 overall last season for the program's first 20-win season since 2002-03.

UW played in the College Basketball Invitational, its first postseason appearance since 2009.
