Jun 8, 2012 - StaffFormer Fremont County resident Levi L. Minard, 88, of Ingram, Texas, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012, in a hospital in Fredericksburg, Texas.
Memorial services were Sunday, May 13, at the Living Tree Baptist Church, with Pastor Thomas Jeffers officiating. Cremation has taken place, and his cremated remains will be scattered at a later date.
Levi Loyd Minard was born Jan. 17, 1926, in Scottsbluff, Neb., the son of Levi Roy Minard and Susie (Gibson) Minard.
Mr. Minard served with the U.S. Navy during World War II, was a retired railroad conductor in Rawlins, and was a member of the Living Tree Baptist Church in Texas.
On Jan. 17, 2000, he married Shirley White.
He was a member of the I.O.O.F., holding many offices.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Minard; daughters Dorothy Anna Martinez and her husband Trini, Sherry Durst and her husband Roy, Bonnie Greenword and husband Roy, and Terri Baker and husband Gene; sons Chip Minard and his wife Radean, David Jenkins and wife Helen and Loyd Jenkins; sisters Mayrene White, Olive Jean Neil of Riverton and Florence Shipley; sisters-in-law Berry Gardner and husband Davis, and Rosalie Hollingsworth; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Alice; a son, Billy; a brother, Lyle, and grandson Loyd.
