Jun 3, 2012 By Christina George, Staff Writer

The eldest daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, will be speaking about the importance of this year's elections.

The Fremont County Republican Party is hosting a fundraiser on Friday, June 8, at the Lander Community Center with Liz Cheney as the evening's special guest.

Cheney, who is Liz Cheney is an attorney, a specialist in U.S. Middle East policy, a Fox News political analyst and a former State Department official.

Fremont County Republican Party chairman John Birbari said the doors open at 6 p.m., with dinner served at 7 p.m. The Caterers, based in Riverton, will provide the meal.

"We'll have a small auction with a total of 10 items," Birbari said.

The highlight of the auction will be two copies of "In My Time," an autobiography about Dick Cheney that Liz Cheney co-authored. Dick and Liz Cheney will personalize each book to the winners.

Another auction item will be a wall hanging from U.S. Rep. Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo.

Tickets for the event are $30 for singles, $50 for couples and $100 for families up to five members.

Tickets can be purchased at The Good Place and Cabin Fever Books in Lander and at Jerry's Flowers & Things and The Print Shop in Riverton.

Tickets can also be purchased by calling Birbari at 349-2873, Perry Marple at 335-8926 or Gerri Boesch at 856-2554.

Tickets will not be sold at the door, Birbari said.

Although this will be the first time Liz Cheney has spoken at an event in Fremont County, she has attended and given speeches at several gatherings throughout the Cowboy State this year, e fueling speculation that she's planning a run for the U.S. Senate for Wyoming in 2014.
