May 31, 2012 - StaffGraveside services for former Riverton resident Esther L. Wicker are at 1 p.m. Friday, June 1, at Mountain View Cemetery in Riverton.
Mrs. Wicker, 79, died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011, at her home in Robert Lee, Texas, following a long battle with cancer.
Cremation has taken place.
Esther L. Sheilds was born March 15, 1932, in Pringle, S.D., the daughter of Orvil and Mae Sheilds.
She married Herb Wicker, of Dewey, S.D., June 23, 1951, in Custer, S.D. They had four children.
Mrs. Wicker lived most of her life in the Riverton area, working for Bi-Rite Drug and Woodwards Liquor, until retirement.
Her family said she enjoyed her children and grandchildren, sewing, crocheting, gardening, cooking, canning, fishing and family reunions.
Survivors include a son, Dennis Wicker and his wife Kathy of Longview, Wash.; daughters Darla Middleton and friend Chris of Camp Verde, Ariz., and Dianne Phillips and husband John of Riverton; three grandsons, Travis, Aaron and Jesse; three granddaughters, Nicole, Jennifer and Samantha; two great-grandsons, Brody and Dylan; brothers John Sheilds of Casper and Jim Sheilds of Newcastle; sisters Lois Mirich of Lingle, Ruth Norris of Robert Lee, Texas, Sarah Wolf of Payson, Ariz., and Martha Rich of Newcastle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herb Wicker; son David B. Wicker; grandson Levi Willey; brother Chuck Sheilds; and sister Elizabeth Ann Sheilds.
