Buster High was born Nov. 18, 1946, in Enid, Okla., the son of James and Mary High. He graduated from Morton High School in 1965 and four years later earned a bachelor of science degree in agriculture from the University of Wyoming.
He married Carol Winchester in 1966.
Mr. High was a high school agricultural teacher in Yerington, Nev., until 1976.
The couple raised their daughters in Yerington.
Mr. High went on to own and operate a custom farming business in Yerington before relocating to Winnemucca in 1998. Most recently, he owned and operated two small businesses -- Winnemucca Air Service and B High Mobile Repair.
Mr. High is survived by his wife, Carol of Winnemucca; two children, Kristin Ashby of Mesa, Ariz., and Nicole Jacques of Denver; his father, James High of Sidney, Neb.; a brother, Joe High of Corpus Christi, Texas; a sister, Jimmie Vrazsity of Denver; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary.
Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation because, the family said, one of Mr. High's greatest wishes was to find a cure for his granddaughter.
