May 23, 2012 - StaffRiverton native David R. Gossett, 58, died of cancer Monday, May 14, 2012, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, Fla.
Memorial services were Friday, May 18, at the First United Methodist Church in Lakeland.
David Ray Gossett was born Feb. 8, 1954, in St. Louis and grew up in Riverton, graduating from Riverton High School with the Class of 1972.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lakeland and was an active member of the Society of Mining and Metallurgy Exploration.
Mr. Gossett was active in the mining industry for 36 years. At the time of his death, he was employed by CF Industries in Wachula, Fla.
His family said Mr. Gossett was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors.
Mr. Gossett is survived by his wife of 35 years, Jennie Gossett of Lakeland, Fla.; daughter Mary Gossett of Minneapolis; his mother, Gail Gossett of Riverton; sisters Shelby Carlson of Greybull and Gwen Harris of Reno, Nev.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Ray S. Gossett.
