May 13, 2012 - StaffM. Juanita "Nita" Lamont, 88, died in the care of her family on Monday, May 7, 2012.
A family memorial service was held Thursday, May 10, in Denver, conducted by the Rev. Father Hugh Guentner, pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
Mary Juanita Jones was born to Mary Agnes and Charles Jones in Everett, Wash., on Nov. 23, 1923, the eldest of five siblings.
She married her husband of 68 years, James Finley Lamont of Riverton, on Oct. 9, 1943, prior to his deployment as a combat paratrooper to the European theater. He survives.
At the war's end, the couple settled in Riverton where they raised three sons -- Jim, Greg and Tracy. Following Wyoming's energy industry, they moved their family to Casper in 1958.
Upon selling the family's industrial supply business in the early 1980s, the couple retired to Mesa, Ariz., and Denver, Colo.
Her family said Mrs. Lamont took fulfillment in raising her family.
She is survived by her sons, Jim Lamont and wife Joan Norris Lamont, Greg Lamont and James; and Tracy Lamont; grandson Joe Lamont and wife Sarah; twin great-grandchildren Logan and Henry Lamont.
Memorials may be made in the name of Mary Juanita Lamont to the Hospice of Saint John, 1320 Everett Court, Lakewood, CO 80215.
