May 9, 2012 - Linda Skinner, RivertonEditor:
I am a senior who has been going to the Riverton Senior Citizens Center for 10 years on a regular basis.
It is a wonderful place. There are so many activities and terrific people at the center. You can get any type of exercise you want --line dancing, power mile, stretch and flex, zumba, chair yoga, qigong, tai chi, or you can use the exercise room.
For the brain and fun there are computer classes, painting, craft classes, mahjong, bridge, pinochle, cribbage and much more. There's a bingo night and also a dinner-dance once a month.
The senior citizens center cooks the "meals on wheels," which are delivered by volunteers.
Meals served at the senior citizens center are reasonably priced and very good.
Tina Saunders, the executive director, and the senior citizens center staff are doing a good job. The center is in the black, and the staff would be pleased to show their audit, financials, and meal counts to anyone. They are all friendly, nice and helpful to everyone.
If you want friends or something to do, come to the Riverton Senior Citizens Center. I did, and I love it.
