May 4, 2012 - StaffTraditional Shoshone viewing and funeral services for Jeremy Dean Harris, a lifelong resident of Riverton, are Saturday, May 5, and Sunday, May 6.
Mr. Harris, 23, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012.
Viewing begins at 1 p.m. Saturday at the home of his adopted grandparents, Smokey and Cindy Deshaw, 17 Cedar Butte Lane, Fort Washakie. The service is at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Rocky Mountain Hall in Fort Washakie. A traditional feast will follow.
According to his wishes, cremation will take place and his ashes will be scattered with those of his father.
Mr. Harris was a surveillance camera technical supervisor at the Wind River Casino.
His family said he enjoyed his family and loved to hunt and fish with his brother, cousins and family.
Mr. Harris is survived by his great-grandmother, Rose Harris of Sage Creek; his brother, Joshua Harris and his wife Kacie and their two children; his sister, Natasha and her four children; Shaylynn, Savannah, and his mother, Elizabeth Harris all of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; his grandparents, John and Anna Sharp of Crowheart, Linda and Richard Burkey of Riverton; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Juan Harris, and grandparents, Muck and Eula Harris of Riverton.
Memorials may be made to the family to help defer costs associated with Mr. Harris' death.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wind Dancer Funeral Home of Fort Washakie.
