Dean Knight, 75, who made his home in Jeffrey City and Riverton several times over the past 35 years, died Saturday, April 21, 2012, in Great Falls, Mont., with family by his side, following a long illness.

Dean Knight was born Sept. 5, 1936, in Hailey, the son of Andrew and Doris Knight. He grew up on a ranch just outside of Hailey, where his family said he discovered his lifelong passion for horses.
He lived in various places for work, including in Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada, New Mexico, and, most recently, Montana.
Mr. Knight mined, drove truck/heavy equipment, washed dishes, mixed paint and broke horses. By his estimate, he broke more than 300 head of horses, the last one being after his 70th birthday.
He lived in Jeffrey City and Riverton for 10 years, up until two years ago.
He had also lived in Jeffrey City during the late 1970s and early 1990s.
Mr. Knight is survived by his longtime companion, Kathy Johnson; children Sandy Fox and husband Gary of Hailey, Larry Knight and wife Lilly of Salt Lake City, Jack Knight of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, JeriAnn Knight, and Julie Knight and husband Gary, all of Great Falls, Mont.; grandchildren Jeremy Ivie, Amber Knight, Aaron Lemker, Danielle Ivie, Trevor Johnson, Sara Knight, Tasia Knight, Micheal Knight, River Dwyer, Dakota Dwyer, Meghan Hopwood and Kendra Knight; seven great-grandchildren; brothers Bob Knight and his wife Loudine and Harold Knight and his wife Linda; sister Margie Bryant; several nieces and nephews.
